AGSC AGRSS™ Standard Committee Considers ADAS Additions to Standard
The Auto Glass Safety Council’s (AGSC) ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS™ Standard
Committee is considering adding wording related to Advanced Drive Assistance Systems (ADAS) to the Standard. Mitch Becker of Abra Auto Body & Glass, who chairs the subcommittee created to explore ADAS, presented recommendations for additions to the Standard at its last meeting in Irvine, Calif. The topic will be discussed in more depth at the next meeting this fall in Reno, Nev.

The Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) held several committee meetings in March in Irvine, Calif. Among these were the AGSC ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS™ Standard Committee, Marketing Committee and Education-Credentialing Committee. All committees are scheduled to meet again during Auto Glass Week™ this fall.

The Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) will hold its annual member meeting on Tuesday, September 29, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Reno, Nev. The meeting will be held the day before Auto Glass Week™ gets underway. Auto Glass Week will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

AGSC Registered Companies Can Certify Technicians for Free
The Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) will host an auto glass technician training and testing opportunity in Reno, Nev., during Auto Glass Week™ this fall. The training is free to technicians who work for AGSC Registered Member Companies and available to those who work for non-Registered Member Companies at a small charge. It will be held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) has added a heat advisory to the “Members Only” portion of its website. The heat advisory is available for AGSC Registered Members to download, customize with their company’s information, and send to their local press. The advisory addresses ways consumers can take care of their windshields during the summer months.

Applying Urethane
"When installing a windshield, do you lay your bead of urethane or do you apply your bead of urethane? Perhaps you are thinking, “What is the difference?” Actually, there is quite a bit of difference. I heavily favor “V” beads over round due to the better bonding and sealing dynamics. I apply the adhesive bead to either the glass or the pinchweld, depending on which type of glass part I am doing, or if there is an existing OE bead for me to follow. However, applying the bead to a surface is very important to the success of the installation." -Bob Beranek

Registered and prospective Auto Glass Week™ competitors can now view the official competition rules and regulations as well as annotated score sheet online. Currently in their tenth year, GlasWeld Windshield Repair Competition in Honor of Walt Gorman (WRO), and the Pilkington Clear Advantage Auto Glass Technician Competition (AGTO), the “Olympics” of the automotive glass industry, are back for Auto Glass Week 2015.
