Prepping OE Pre-Primed Glass
“Recently we’ve seen an increase of original equipment (OE) glass purchases from dealerships. Why, because Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are being incorporated into new vehicles more often than not. This means auto glass companies that don’t recalibrate ADAS systems must depend on dealerships. By adding dealerships as a partner to complete auto glass services for their mutual customer, may mean the dealership will demand OE glass be obtained for the replacement to facilitate recalibrations.” –Bob Beranek

Welcome These Master Auto Glass Technicians
Several auto glass technicians passed the Auto Glass Safety Council™’s (AGSC) Master Auto Glass Technician certification exam during the month of May. The exam is an online test consisting of 70 multiple choice questions. Those who apply to become Master Auto Glass Technicians must have experience and knowledge in: OSHA-required employee safety regulations; conducting all installations according to the current ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS™ Standard.

ADAS Calibration
Makes it an unfair insurance practice for an insurance company, agent, or adjuster to knowingly fail to pay a claim to the claimant or repairer to the extent the claimant's vehicle is repaired in conformance with applicable manufacturers’ procedures. Awaiting governor approval.

“Provides that in the repair of a collision damaged motor vehicle, no motor vehicle repair shop or insurer shall deviate from the collision repair guidelines, procedures, recommendations and service bulletins issued by a vehicle or original equipment manufacturer without the written authorization from the vehicle owner or such owner’s representative.”

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Wednesday issued advance notices of proposed rulemaking on the removal of unnecessary regulatory barriers to the safe introduction of automated driving systems (ADS) vehicles in the United States.
